Dr. Amol Shah, MD

University of California, Davis

Intro to Interventional Radiology

Dr. Shah is an Assistant Clinical Professor and Interventional Radiologist at UC Davis, specializing in image-guided procedures for conditions ranging from cancer to genitourinary disorders. His expertise includes targeted cancer treatments, such as chemoembolization and tumor ablation, as well as managing hepatobiliary diseases and hemodialysis access issues. He studied at UCSD School of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Dillon Chen, MD

University of California, Davis

Intro to Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Dillon Chen relocated with his family from Taipei, Taiwan to San Francisco at the age of 11.  As a first-generation immigrant, he feels grateful and blessed to have been able to chase the “American Dream.”  He is the first in his family to go to college. After completing medical school and residency at UCSF and a musculoskeletal radiology fellowship at UCSD, he moved to Texas. While in Texas, he spent 8 years in private practice radiology and 9 years in academic radiology. In 2017, he moved back to California to join the faculty at UC Davis. He is excited to share his experience and interests with the next generation of physicians and radiologists-to-be.

Dr. Elizabeth Morris, MD

University of California, Davis

Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Morris currently serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiology at UC Davis. She received her medical degree from UC San Francisco and completed her residency at Weill Cornell Medical College. Upon completing a breast imaging fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, she was appointed to faculty, eventually serving as the chief of Breast Imaging Service and the Larry Norton Endowed Chair. Her recent research efforts involve using imaging biomarkers to assess breast cancer risk and treatment response. She has grants from NCI, RSNA, Komen Foundation and Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Dr. Morris is also past president of the SBI, as well as the inaugural Equity, Diversity & Inclusion officer of the ISMRM and co-chair of the Women of ISMRM.

Dr. Shadi Aminololama-Shakeri, MD

University of California, Davis 

Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Shakeri is a professor of radiology at UC Davis, where she is the chief of the breast imaging section, director of breast imaging fellowship, and chair of the UC Davis School of Medicine Admissions Committee. Dr. Shakeri started her medical career as a board-certified general internist. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Texas Southwestern and worked as a hospitalist in San Francisco before re-training in radiology. After completing her radiology residency and breast imaging fellowship at UC Davis, Dr. Shakeri joined UC Davis as a full-time faculty member. Dr. Shakeri is committed to the delivery of culturally relevant care and clinical excellence in breast imaging. She is a fellow of the Society of Breast Imaging, and an active leader at the national level in her specialty.

Dr. Shannon Navarro, MD

University of California, Davis

Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Navarro is a fellowship trained radiologist who specializes in abdominal and breast imaging. She received her MPH from UCLA. She then completed medical school, radiology residency, and her fellowship in advanced abdominal imaging and intervention/breast imaging at the USC Keck School of Medicine. Dr. Navarro has a special clinical interest in women's imaging, MRI, and ultrasound.

Dr. Kriti Gwal, MD

Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Gwal was originally from the east coast where she did all of her training completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania with her medical degree obtained from Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. She completed her radiology residency at Pennsylvania Hospital and then completed fellowships in pediatric radiology and pediatric neuroradiology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She then joined UC Davis Health where she served as Assistant and then Associate Program Director to the diagnostic radiology residency and Program Director to the combined Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology residency program. She also served as the Fetal MR lead for the radiology department. She has since returned to the east coast where all of her family lives. When not working, she and her husband love to play with their 8 and 1 year old sons and snuggle their little dog. They also love spending time with their extended families and exploring new places.

Dr. Gabriella Marvizi, MD 

University of California, Davis

Diagnostic Radiology, R4

Dr. Marvizi completed her medical degree from UC Irvine School of Medicine. She spent her intern year at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Long Beach, CA before moving to New York City to complete her first two years of radiology residency at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. She transferred to UC Davis last year, and is currently in her final year of residency. She is looking forward to starting her fellowship in Breast Imaging at UCLA next year.

Dr. David Chen, MD

University of California, Davis 

Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. David Chen is a musculoskeletal radiologist and his practice includes MRI, CT, ultrasound and x-rays of trauma, sports medicine, rheumatologic arthropathy, and orthopedic oncology, amongst other subcategories. He has a special clinical interest in teaching medical trainees, quality improvement of radiation safety, and engaging in research in medical physics and sports medicine.

Dr. Rex Pillai, MD

University of California, Davis

Interventional Radiology

Dr. Pillai is an Associate Clinical Professor and Interventional Radiologist at UC Davis, also serving as the Program Director for the Interventional Radiology Residency. His expertise encompasses tumor-directed arterial therapies, tumor ablation for various cancers, treatments for women's fibroids and men's varicoceles, and interventions for vascular malformations and DVT.

Dr. Margaret Lin, MD

Stanford University

Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Margaret Lin is a board certified radiologist with subspecialty training in thoracic and cardiovascular imaging. As the Program Director for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Stanford, Dr. Lin focuses on resident education and development of curricula and new educational tools.

Dr. Ghaneh Fananapazir, MD

University of California, Davis

Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Fananapazir is a professor of radiology at UC Davis, and the residency program director. His clinical focus includes nonvascular interventional procedures, advanced ultrasound, CT, and MRI techniques​. In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Fananapazir is passionate about medical education and research, particularly relating to kidney transplantation, and has authored textbooks and peer-reviewed research in highly impactful medical journals.

Dr. Quinn Meisinger, MD

University of California, San Diego

Interventional Radiology

Dr. Meisinger is an Associate Professor and Interventional Radiologist, serving also as the Program Director for the Interventional Radiology Residency at UC San Diego. He specializes in tumor ablation, inferior vena cava (IVC) filter retrieval, prostate artery embolization, pulmonary arterial interventions and radial uterine fibroid embolization. Additionally, he specializes in peripheral arterial disease and deep venous thrombosis management.

Dr. Brooke Beckett, MD

Oregon Health and Science University

Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Beckett hails from a tiny farming town in Nebraska, attended the University of Iowa for medical school, and completed her Diagnostic Radiology residency and MSK fellowship at OHSU. She has been on faculty at OHSU since 2011 and has served as the Residency Director since 2019. In her time away from the hospital, she and her husband try to corral their twin 10 year old boys, attempt to complete home projects, try new restaurants, and spend time in the great outdoors.

Dr. Lauren Yun Peng, MD

Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles

Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Peng serves as a Diagnostic Radiologist at Kaiser LA and also holds the position of Program Director for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency. She is specialized in pediatric radiology, addressing the needs of a diverse age range from unborn fetuses to teenagers.

Dr. Sean Beaty, MD

Sunrise Health GME Consortium

Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Sean Beaty is the radiology residency program director for the Sunrise Health GME Consortium DR residency program. He completed his radiology residency and Body MR fellowship at Mayo Clinic. He is a current partner and past president of Red Rock Radiology Associates in Las Vegas.

Dr. Michael Larson, MD, PhD

University of California, Davis

Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Larson's academic interests mirror the diverse nature of the abdominal and pelvic organs he examines. He's dedicated to enhancing medical imaging education, clinical diagnostics, minimally-invasive image-guided procedures, and medical device development. His primary scientific pursuit centers on bridging the gap between the two diagnostic medical specialties of radiology and pathology, with a specific emphasis on refining the biopsy procedure. Dr. Larson aims to make minimally-invasive biopsies safer, more accurate, quicker, and potentially therapeutic in the future.

Dr. Jasjeet Bindra, MBBS

University of California, Davis

Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Bindra is a Professor and the Vice Chair of Education in the department of Radiology at UC Davis. Her clinical interests include: Advanced MRI and CT imaging of disorders of the MSK system. She also specializes in use of ultrasound and image guided interventional procedures of MSK system and biopsies of soft tissue and bone neoplasms. Dr. Bindra's research interests include: imaging of joint implants, foot and ankle imaging, and education in radiology.

Dr. Cyrus Bateni, MD

University of California, Davis

Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Bateni grew up in the greater Sacramento area and is glad to be working back here at UC Davis. While he completed his radiology residency at UC Davis, he has lived in Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Seattle as part of his medical training. He has served as the instructor of record for the 4th year radiology course at UC Davis since 2013, and has also been the lead at various points in time for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year radiology education as well. His primary interest is medical student education.
